Together we can make a difference.

Together, through my swims over the years, we have been able to raise over $48,000 for FORCE. Thank you all so much for your support. FORCE (Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered) is a national nonprofit providing support and resources to families facing hereditary cancer. My fundraising and extensive volunteer work with FORCE has always been and will always be to honor my Mother, Emily Miller, who passed away in 2005 from ovarian cancer. I inherited my own BRCA2 mutation from my mom. Because of the support and information I received through FORCE, I was able to make informed, empowered decisions about my own health care and take precautions that probably saved my life. I have been volunteering with FORCE since 2016 as a Peer Support Group Leader and a Peer Navigator counseling women around the country.

On Sunday, July 13, I’ll be swimming in the United States Masters Swimming Ultramarathon National Championship, the 11-mile Portland Bridge Swim in the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon. As always, I’ll be swimming to honor my mom, Emily. And, because this race is just days before my grandma Harriet’s birthday, I will also be swimming to honor her memory. Lastly, I want to dedicate my swim this year to my friend and fellow ocean swimmer Bill Singley.

Please consider helping FORCE continue to do its important work. My goal this year is to surpass $50,000 in total funds raised since I started, so my goal is $5,000 in 2025 for this amazing organization. A gift of $25 or more will help provide a lifeline to families who inherit a higher risk of cancer.
